Terms of Service
Questions about it can go to hello@basemode.io.
Effective November 5, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Arcaro Labs LLC ("Basemode", "we", "us"). They cover the Basemode website, dashboard, API, MCP server, Figma plugin and shared docs pages (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, joining an organization or using the Service, you agree to them. If you use the Service for a business, you agree on that business's behalf and confirm you're allowed to.
If your organization signed a separate agreement with us, such as an enterprise contract, that agreement wins wherever it differs from these terms.
Who's who
- Customer (or "you"): the business or person that holds a Basemode organization.
- Member: a person on a customer's team who signs in to the dashboard.
- Design system: a set of design tokens you sync with Basemode, from one or more Figma files.
- Connected service: a third-party product you connect, such as Figma, GitHub or Slack.
The Service
Basemode keeps design tokens in sync with code. It reads variables and styles from Figma, through our plugin or Figma's API, turns them into code, and opens a pull request in your repository with the new tokens, a plain changelog, and references to renamed tokens already updated. It can tell your team in Slack, publish a docs page you can share, measure how widely your tokens are used, and answer coding assistants through our MCP server.
We may change, add or remove features over time. If we remove something that materially reduces what you've paid for, we'll tell you in advance where we reasonably can.
The basemode command-line tool and our GitHub Action can also be used without an account. When you use them that way, they run on your own computer or in your own GitHub workflows, and these terms apply only to the parts that reach the Service.
Your account
You need an account to use the dashboard. Give us accurate information and keep it current. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in secure, including your password, authenticator and recovery codes, and for everything done under your account.
An organization's owner and its admins decide who joins, what each member can do and who manages billing. You're responsible for your members and for what they do in the Service.
You must be at least 18 to create an account.
Your repositories and connected services
When you connect a repository, you give Basemode permission to read its files, commit to the branch Basemode uses for tokens, and open and update pull requests there. When you connect Figma, you give us permission to read the files you choose. You agree that you're allowed to give that access, and that you give each token only the access Basemode needs.
You decide what's merged. Basemode opens pull requests; it doesn't merge them. Review each one before you merge it, especially where it updates references to renamed tokens. You're responsible for the code you merge and run.
Each connected service is run by its own provider, under its own terms. We don't control them, and a provider may change its API, its plans or a token's access at any time, which can stop syncs from working. For example, Figma only shares variables through its API on some plans, which is why we also offer a plugin.
Shared docs pages and keys
Anyone with the link to a shared docs page can see the tokens on it. Share links only with people you're happy to have see them, and turn sharing off to stop a link working.
Design system keys, used by the plugin, the GitHub Action, the CLI and coding assistants, act for your organization. Keep them secret, and replace any you think has been exposed. You're responsible for everything done with them.
Acceptable use
Don't use the Service to:
- Connect a file, repository or account you don't have permission to use.
- Send malware, spam or phishing, or take part in fraud.
- Break the law, or a connected service's terms.
- Infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy.
- Probe or test the Service's security without our written permission, or get around its limits, keys or billing.
- Overload, disrupt or reverse engineer the Service, except where the law lets you regardless of this term.
- Resell the Service, or use it to build a competing product.
Security researchers acting in good faith are welcome to report issues to us at hello@basemode.io.
Plans and billing
Free plan. Every organization can use the Free plan, which needs no card and has the limits shown on our pricing page. You can choose a paid plan at any time.
Free trials. Some plans start with a free trial that needs no card. When a trial ends without a subscription, your organization moves to the Free plan. Your design systems and their history are kept, but features and limits beyond the Free plan stop until you subscribe.
Subscriptions. Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly in advance, and renew automatically until you cancel. Each plan sets limits, such as how many design systems and people you can have. Prices and limits are shown on our pricing page and when you subscribe. Payments are processed by Stripe, and you agree to its terms when you pay.
Changes. Upgrades take effect right away and are prorated. Downgrades take effect from your next billing date.
Cancelling. You can cancel from Billing in your dashboard at any time. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for, and you aren't charged again. After it ends, your organization moves to the Free plan. Payments are non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund.
Failed payments. If a payment fails, we retry it over the next few days. If it still can't be collected, we may pause your organization until it's paid.
Taxes and prices. Prices don't include taxes, which you're responsible for unless we collect them. We may change our prices. We'll tell you at least 30 days before a change affects your subscription, and it applies from your next renewal.
Your data
You keep all rights to your designs, tokens and code, and to the files and pull requests Basemode generates for you. You give us permission to host, store, copy, transmit and process your data only as needed to run, secure and support the Service for you, and as described in our privacy policy.
We don't sell your data, and we don't use your designs, tokens or code to train AI models.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.
Our property
The Service, including its software, design and documentation, belongs to us and our licensors. While you follow these terms, we give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it. Where we publish a tool with its own license, such as our GitHub Action, that license governs the tool. Our names and logos are ours. Please don't use them without asking, except to describe accurately that you use Basemode.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your organization or account at any time from your dashboard.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if your use puts the Service or our other customers at risk, if payment is overdue, or if the law requires it. Where it's reasonable and allowed, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
When an organization is deleted, its design systems, connections, shared docs pages and keys are deleted, and syncs stop. Pull requests already opened stay in your repository. Some records, such as the activity log and billing records, are kept for the periods in our privacy policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including those on fees owed, data, disclaimers, liability and indemnity, will survive it.
Disclaimers
We work hard to keep the Service available and its output correct. Even so, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every sync will succeed, or that generated code and reference updates will be right for your codebase, which is why you review them before merging.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- Neither party is liable to the other for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, even if told they were possible.
- Each party's total liability arising from or relating to these terms or the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or US$100.
These limits don't apply to your payment obligations, to either party's indemnity obligations, or to liability that can't be limited by law.
Indemnity
You'll defend and indemnify us against claims, losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, brought by a third party that arise from your use of the Service in breach of these terms, or from files, repositories or accounts you connected without permission.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we'll tell you by email or in the dashboard at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless it's needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you don't agree, you can cancel before then.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and both parties agree to their jurisdiction.
General
These terms are the whole agreement between us about the Service. If a part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms without our consent, except to a successor of your whole business; we may assign them to an affiliate or a successor. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control. Notices to you go to your account's email address; notices to us go to hello@basemode.io.
